Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed to book an appointment. You are welcome to attend as a private paying client without any prior referral. However, if you have a GP referral and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you may be eligible for up to 10 individual counselling sessions per calendar year.
How long is each session?
Each session lasts for about 50 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions is determined based on your unique needs, with guidance from your therapist.
Where are these sessions held?
In-person counselling sessions occur at our clinic in Sunnybank, QLD. Upon agreement with your psychologist telehealth consultations can be arranged. However, they may not be as comprehensive as face-to-face sessions, potentially affecting response times and crisis intervention. Assessments need to be conducted in person at the clinic.
How often do the sessions occur?
Counselling sessions usually occur every fortnight, although weekly sessions may be arranged based on clinical considerations.
Do you accept Medicare rebates or private health insurance?
Yes, we accept both. Please ensure you have the necessary referrals.
What are the costs of therapy sessions?
Session fees vary. Please refer to the Pricing & Insurance section for detailed information.
Are my therapy sessions confidential? Absolutely. Your privacy is our utmost priority.
What should I expect during my first session?
Your initial session involves a comprehensive discussion of your concerns, intake assessment, case conceptualisation by our clinician, and an introduction to our approach.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to other patients. If you cannot attend to your booked appointment, please contact us at least 48-hour prior to avoid a cancellation fee. This will also ensure other people do not miss out on available appointments. A cancellation fee of $100 will apply for notifications given less than 48 hours in advance. (For NDIS participants, please refer to the Service Agreement).
